WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT MODEL BASED ON GENDER EQUALITY IN SUKABUMI CITY

In the context of development, gender mainstreaming, and women's empowerment are closely related to improving the quality of the nation's next generation. Given, women are the first educators in a family entity. Currently, the industrial sector is an indispensable motor of development in improving the economy. The role of women in economic development can be seen from the tendency of women's participation in the workforce. As one of the indicators of participation in the economic sector, it is shown from the rate of increase in the participation of women in the labor force which is faster than the increase in the rate of participation of men. There are four main sectors regarding the important role of women in development, namely in the fields of education, health, employment, and related to violence prevention. Based on the background that has been described, the authors are interested in discussing and providing an analysis regarding the Gender Equality-Based Women's Empowerment Model in Sukabumi City. This research is included in qualitative research using descriptive method. Descriptive method is a research method that tries to solve problems by describing, analyzing, and interpreting data (Strauss & Corbin, 2003). The type of research used in this study is qualitative with a case study approach and a review of journal literature because the research produces descriptive data that discusses gender equality. Descriptive research that the researchers did, did not use hypothesis testing but only used observational data and literature review. The Sukabumi City Government has issued a policy that regulates gender equality in Sukabumi City, this is an effort by the Sukabumi City Government in empowering women with the aim of gender equality.
